Organic Living in Adobe Home- The Benefits of Living in an Organic Adobe House
Adobe construction was first delivered to the southwest by early
Spanish settlers who were formerly introduced to it by the Moors from North
Africa.
One particular old adobe after another crowds the Barrio's messy
avenues, many of them painted in vibrant colors which scintillate in the desert
heat. The Arrabal Santa Rosa really has the feel of a traditional Mexican town.
My spouse and Me, being a "creative type", was
enchanted by all this and when my friend offered me the possibility to have
some input on the adobe house that this individual was about to build, I had to
say "yes”.
And it has been a treat to discover the joys of a tiny Green
clayish, porcelain house.
They are 18 inches thick and the floor is poured cement with
a radiant heating system embedded in it. I chose recycled grey jeans insulation which is as effective as fiberglass
doors for temperature but even better for sound, and more green and
environmental so that it will never present any danger to the environment in
order to anyone's health.
I get a snug feeling just thinking of my adobe house.
The paint on the interior walls is distinctively appropriate
since it is a non-toxic clay coloring composed of earth tones sourced from the wilderness
landscape itself. All other interior paints are Non-VOC, so they just do not
pollute the interior space of the home. I am always struck by the yucky smell
of toxic chemicals emanating from the fresh paint, carpeting, and other
components of newly built or remodeled conventional buildings. It is the essential
thing I notice and there is none of that in this Green Living, ecological,
adobe house.
In addition to reaping helpful benefits our health by not
out gassing toxins the natural paint allows the thick adobe walls to breathe
because it won't form an impermeable skin area between the interior air and the
walls. These types of walls can then take action as a temperature and humidity
reservoir for the house which stabilizes the indoor climate throughout the day.
Clayish is not a very efficient insulating material so an
adobe house is not your best option for areas with harsh winters but it is a
fantastic choice for the desert where it gets very hot during the day and can
be freezing at night. This is because adobe has a good "thermal mass,”
which means that as the suns heat is consumed by the exterior wall surfaces it slowly
but surely penetrates through the wall to warm the inside during the night. By
the next morning the cold night time air has cooled the wall contributing, in change,
to cooler interior temperature ranges during the day. This permits me to cut rear
on the environment conditioning and the heating.
Since paving material is essentially an inert material, the
"toxic" content of the structure is hugely reduced. This will make
paving material construction, when feasible, a very attractive Green Living
alternative. Adobe construction is a reasonable way to achieve sustainable
living areas appropriate for us and the environment.
This is an extremely comfortable Green Living and ecological
adobe house. It is just a beautiful residence which places no demand or burden
after its residents; seems neutral and enhances the spirit with its light and
benevolent personality.
How does this suits our environment ? Is this possible ?
ReplyDeleteYes It is. The possibility depends on Availability of materials around construction site.
