How does forging improved steel compared to casting?
Forging is a process in which
required shape of steel is obtained by giving pressure or blows. In the process
of forging steel is usually heated to semi solid state. In some cases the steel
is forged to cold. Heating or cooling is done based on requirement. In this process the steel is forced to obtain
the shape by pressure or blows. Shape is formed more accurately by repeated
forging as all the gaps are filled by pressure. However forging is preferred
over casting when strength issue is considered. Forging is used to improve the
mechanical properties of metal and it produces the strong and more durable
product than the product which is produced in casting.
