Factors to be considered when designing an asphalt pavement’s thickness

• The traffic vehicles to be served initially and throughout the life of the pavement to which it has been designed.
• The strength and other pertinent properties of the prepared sub grade pavement should be considered.
• The strength and other influencing characters of the materials available or chosen for the layers or courses in the asphalt pavement to be constructed should be considered.
• Special factors responding to the road requirement should be designed.
