Raw
materials used in blast furnace are:
- Lime stone (calcium carbonate)
- Coke (carbon)
- Iron ore (ores of iron)
- Iron ore is an oxide of iron found in nature mixed with rock or soil is known as gangue.
Product
of the blast furnace:
The iron which is obtained from
this blast furnace is pig iron. Pig iron contains
of carbon. It
is not used for construction as it is brittle and weak in nature.
