Formation of natural asphalt

   
The natural asphalts are formed when the crude petroleum oils rose to the earth’s surface and formed pools. This action of the sun and wind drove off the lighter oils and gases, leaving a heavy amount of residue. These residues were asphalt with certain impurities such as water and soil. Using the crude distillation processes, cementing and waterproofing materials were obtained from the residue. And thus the natural asphalt is formed. In areas such as los angles fossils remain and skeleton of pre historic animals were found as the major source of asphalt.
