Precautions Taken When Detailing a Steel - Framed Building
Precautions to be taken while detailing a steel-framed building to avoid excessive conduction of heat through the framing members:
- Detailing of thermal breaks such as foam plastic sheathing is necessary.
- A layer of rigid insulation must be added to the assembly to reduce the flow of heat.
- Special detailing to block excessive heat flow in every area of the frame.
- Insulating edge spaces or foam insulation boards are used between the ceiling finish material and the joists to avoid excessive heat conduction in the ceiling joists from the warm interior ceiling along their lengths.
